Washing Up: Liz Parker

Liz Parker, dedicated washer-upper and all-round miracle worker...

Liz, who does all the washing up - as well as just about everything else - has a long history in catering beginning after she left school, attaining a City & Guilds in catering.

Trainee Cook of the Year...

She then joined the Royal Navy in 1980 as a trainee chef. During training Liz was a finalist in the Trainee Cook of the Year as awarded by the Worshipful Company of Cooks of London.

Gold at the Salon Cullinaires...

When her stint in the navy came to an end she continued to work at RNAS Culdrose as a civilian cook until 1992. During this time, Liz competed in several Salon Cullinaires and was awarded a number of medals including gold.

Cooking in civvy street...

Now fully ensconced in civvy street, Liz honed her considerable skills running a private catering business cooking bespoke meals for weddings, parties etc.

1992 saw Liz take up a position with Cornwall County Council at the Cornwall College in Camborne. Here, she had responsibility for the management of a number of outlying school kitchens as well as work in the college kitchen. She also worked on many outside catering events (exhibitions etc.)

A true Francophile...

Her final few years in blighty were spent at Sherborne School for Girls before moving to France in 2004.

Liz now lives just a few miles down the road from us in a 200 year old farm house which she renovated with her husband, John.

They have two greyhounds and three cats and 8.5 acres for them all to run around in.

An indispensable member of the CookinFrance team...

With us for over two years now, Liz has established herself as a truly indispensable member of the team.

As well as doing all the washing up, she keeps the place looking tip-top, dishes out sage advice and is a general mine of information.

Naturally bubbly with a wicked sense of humour, Liz confesses that she absolutely loves working here with us, and it shows!
